Iris Van Herpen Fall/Winter ’10-’11

by pleatfarmer on February 22, 2010

Synesthesia is Iris van Herpen’s Fall/Winter 2010-2011 collection which was “inspired by the cross -sensational phenomenon of feeling sound, smelling motion, and hearing color.” (via marian kihogo + un nouveau ideal)

The collection consists of three dimensional structured garments featuring twisted cords, bursts of nude flesh, and knots, topped with incredibly innovative leather work, and clever placement of reflective metallics.

Love Iris Van Herpen unbelievable talent, the details, the fabrication and sculpting is amazing. I did a Textile Fabric Story with two of her images, the experience was fabulous. Locating fabric samples to replicate the collection was exciting. Texture, color and construction of the fabric was the best part of the project. I will continue to follow this fresh visionary designer.
