“What if the wearer could become whoever he is without having to choose a certain representation in his outfit? Is it possible to approach fashion design without imposing a certain model to follow?”

Wear Out is a response to the notion of discrimination in individuals through the garments they wear. To break free from the norm of a typical Western dress code, designer Carolina Reis perceived her wool suit as a flexible armature that allows the wearer to create his own identity by ‘breaking’ the garment through movements.

Carolina designed an average-looking suit but on closer look reveals many tightly stitched folds and pleats. As the wearer moves, the garment undergoes enough pressure to break the thread which gradually reveals new forms.

Check out her clip showcasing her thought process and the suit assembly right after the break.
