About

by pleatfarmer

Pleat Farm is an informational and inspirational online platform – a design pasture showcasing the latest in apparel, textiles, architecture, furniture, paper art and product design, with a focus on innovative material applications such as folding, bending and knotting.

I’m an architect, a seeker of good design, and currently resides  in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. ‘Folding’ has been my modus operandi ever since I began my design education at RISD, and the technique has served numerous possibilities in my works. Hence, this has inspired me to create an online archive on design that utilizes folding as well as innovative material applications, and so P|F was born.

Enjoy grazing!

Beautiful site. Stumbled across your site doing research for an article on the role of fabric in tensegrity structures to the Encyclopedia of Tensegrity. Are you interested in that subject as well? I found some good stuff here: http://www.tensionstructures.com/terminology.htm.

Hi Elizabeth,

This site is awesome. I would love to get some of my fathers work posted on your blog. He has been pleating for over 60 years…actually my entire family has been doing it for 4 generations. We do a lot of work for the couture fashion houses. Looking forward to your response :-)
Regards,
George
