The little long-overdue compilation of Pleatfarm’s favorites is finally here! Plucked from the recent Fall/Winter 2010-11, the list of wearables are chosen for the designers’ ingenious and whimsical ways of exploring pleats, folds, and innovative materials, such as Viktor & Rolf‘s collar-to skirt pleated outfit; stuffed, twisted fabric by Comme des Garçons; weaving, undulating leather collars by Haider Ackermann; just to name a few.

For the Rain collection, fashion designer Yunjee Bae creates garments that are inspired by the results of weathering, with an origami twist.

The Rain collection takes on the elements of the nature such as oxygen, sunlight and wind that enable nature to change an object through oxydising, erosion and corrosion, with the vintage look as the starting point. Designer Yunjee Bae folded and bleached her linen garments to echo the aged, weathering effects.

About the Designer: Yoonjee Bae hails from Seoul, South Korea, and a recent graduate from London College of Fashion in MA Fashion Design and Technology.

Just discovered these lovely pleated purses and pillowcases produced by Carol Gilbert of yorktownroad. Her products use a range of colorful hand-dyed linen as well as repurposed leather, each having a distinctive personality with its varying placements of tucks, pleats and other surface detail.
